AMMONIUM NITRATE PRILL INERT SIMULANT
Ammonium Nitrate is a man-made fertilizer, high in nitrogen and is a chemical oxidizer. Its most commonly sold form is in tiny white round balls, called “prills”. Individual terrorists and groups have used this material in bombings, by mixing it with a liquid fuel or other powdered fuel, creating a “blasting agent”. When so mixed, it goes from being a fertilizer to a high explosive.
Our inert product—a safe simulant for prilled ammonium nitrate has the same visual characteristics, density, and color x-ray signature as the live product–and is essential for demonstrating to students what it looks like and how it handles.
