Appliance-Concealed IEDs

Ordinary household appliances have been boobytrapped with concealed explosives since at least the 1940s, when a Canadian man mailed a boobytrapped electric kettle to his wife. A similar murder occurred in another case in 1972, also with a boobytrapped electric kettle, where a man paid somebody to kill his daughter who had married out of the family honor. Over the years, a number of bombings have occurred around the world, that were based on a variety of boobytrapped electric appliances, telephones, radios, VCRs, etc. Securesearch manufactures a number of different inert IED training aids built into common appliances. They are essential in scenarios for airport security, post office security and courier security training and testing.

CD / DVD PLAYER IED TRAINING AID FOR X-RAY IDENTIFICATION
Order Sku: ITA-CPTA-XR
Small portable CD/DVD players are commonly carried by young people, although they are increasingly turning to other forms of small appliances. These items have sufficient internal space to conceal an improvised explosive device or simply, an explosive charge alone that can later be assembled to other IED components. This inert IED training aid represents an x-ray correct item, consisting of an explosive simulant, electric detonator, battery, timing circuitry, and arming device. It is designed to train airport and courthouse screeners, and to test them at a later date.
