HIDDEN CONTRABAND IN LUGGAGE

This training program is available in DVD and VHS format. DVD programs play on most players worldwide while VHS tapes are available in NTSC, SECAM and PAL formats.

This program was produced for use as a training aid by customs officers, border patrol and drug enforcement officers who regularly examine luggage for hidden narcotics. In recent years, the smuggling of large quantities of powdered narcotics in personal luggage become a major problem for law enforcement in North America and Europe. The average officer is unaware at how skilled the drug smuggler has become in creating secret compartments in suitcases, garment bags and other luggage. Securesearch Inc. has worked with major customs and police agencies in Canada and in the U.S.A. to determine how luggage is being reconstructed by smugglers. They rework the luggage to provide single and multi-compartmented hiding places that can be difficult to spot, especially in a cursory search at an airport or in a vehicle check. We, at our training aids division, have recreated a number of these techniques, using several types of luggage. This program takes the officer through a search of each piece, showing how by a rapid but thorough examination- visual and manual- these hidden compartments can be located and opened for removal of evidence. The compartments have been filled with simulated powdered narcotics.

Video sequences show:

  1. a pat-down of the exterior of the luggage

  2. removal of clothing/ content

  3. visual and manual search of linings

  4. pockets and alterations to the luggage

  5. weight  comparisons between luggage without drugs and pieces containing narcotics in hidden locations

  6. an actual simulation of filling a suitcase holding hundreds of tiny compartments with simulated narcotics.

This program is sure to open the eyes of the new officer and the experienced one as well.
