Vendors
of X-Ray screening equipment and metal detectors seldom provide training for
users beyond how to turn the equipment on and off, how to do simple calibration,
and some general instruction on how contraband items might appear on the X-Ray
monitor or what lower limits of metal objects will trigger the metal detector.
Securesearch,
Inc.
has been making inert training aids for over 30 years and many of our products
have been adopted for use in X-Ray and metal detector screener training programs
at airports, courthouses and many nuclear power generating plants in Canada, the
U.S.A. and countries outside of North America.
In
the past, simple test objects were sufficient to train and test the screeners;
however, the latest equipment has become far more sophisticated and Securesearch,
Inc.
has developed a range of training aids, under direction of a Canadian federal
government agency, to be used specifically for this purpose. In some actual 1999
tests at airport passenger screening points, security screeners and government
inspectors thought that our inert training aids looked more realistic on X-Ray
color monitors than some of the real objects they were supposed to represent!
We
produce the following items specifically for this type of training and testing:
-
Inert
dynamite cartridges of various lengths and diameters
-
Inert
detonators, with bridgewire assemblies, legwires and simulated explosive
charge
-
Inert
detonating cord (primacord) and safety fuse, in short lengths
-
Inert
ammunition, including some prohibited military types with assorted color
codes
-
Inert
hand grenades, with metal or plastic bodies, inert explosive charge and
complete fuse assembly
-
Inert,
non-firing "non-guns" including:
-
small
and large all-metal revolvers
-
derringer-type
mini-revolvers
-
small
and large all-metal semi-automatic pistols
-
small
and large composite handguns (steel and polycarbonate plastic) with
springs & inert ammunition
-
simulated
long guns
These
are all opaque white plastic-coated and sealed except on one side of the
semi-auto pistol grip where a clear window is left to observe the inert
ammunition and magazine follower/spring assembly.
We
completely purpose-build these products. They are not converted from
working real revolvers, blank pistols or replica handguns, or long guns.
They are non-functional. All simulated firearms are serial numbered for
inventory control. They have your name on them. The muzzles are fitted
with a bright orange or bright red plastic end plug often required by
local law.
-
Modified
toy-cap firing pistols whose working parts are plugged with industrial
adhesives and then plastic-coated with opaque white plastic.
-
All
modified cap pistols are serial numbered for inventory control and also have
your name on them. They come fitted with a bright orange or bright red
plastic end plug often required by local law so they do not look real when
seen from the front.
-
Various
types of simulated knives and daggers including composite materials types.
-
Simulated
spray cans of tear gas, pepper spray, etc.
