Airport X-Ray / Nuclear Security X-Ray Training and Test Kit  - ITA-179AVSEC

This kit was designed as a national training and test standard set of test objects for x-ray screeners.  A number of these kits are in use at airports, nuclear power plants, courthouses and military EOD units since they were introduced in the mid-1980s. The contents can be expanded to include a number of other representative contraband items.  These can include box cutters, knives, additional inert ammunition, simulated firearms, pepper spray/tear gas spray canisters, handcuffs, detonators, battery packs and electronic and mechanical timing devices.  All additional items will be supplied with Velcro tapes attachment, so they can be retained on the Velcro covered board for transport and storage.

This kit is the first National Standard for contraband recognition training, in use anywhere in the world.  We have sold a number of these kits to U.S. Nuclear Power Plants for use in counter terrorism training programs, to the Civil Aviation Authority of a Pacific Rim country for use at their training college, and to five airports in the Middle East.

The kit is contained in a square, heavy leather carrying case, with sturdy handle. The case has two key-lockable hasps, and  comes with two keys. Each item represents either a contraband item or a common item carried by many travelers in their luggage which might be misinterpreted by X-Ray or metal detector as a contraband item, due to shape or metal content, or both. Each item was required to be included under government standard. The kit contains three lift-out fiberglass boards, faced with Velcro loop cloth. Each of the test contraband items has Velcro hook cloth on the back, allowing items to be rearranged in any pattern required by the inspector.
