M34 WHITE
PHOSPHOROUS SMOKE GRENADE
This grenade
was developed as an improvement over the US M15 grenade
that had a cylindrical steel body with a flat base. The
M34 body is slightly lighter in weight with a grooved
surface, which burst more readily. It contains
approximately the same amount of filler, while
increasing the effective radius by about 25%.
The M34 body has with a grooved and tapered base,
allowing it to be fired from a rifle grenade adapter.
The increased bursting radius was now greater than the
typical throwing distance, endangering the thrower if
there was no local cover, so projection from a grenade
launcher is a safety advantage.

security personnel about many categories of vehicles and
aspects of searching them for bombs. The manual has
illustrations of different vehicles and their
characteristics. In the first section, it describes
general features for each vehicle type and how they may
be used to conceal IEDs, explosives and other
contraband.
The second section provides descriptions of
each major vehicle type, guidelines on how to search
different vehicles and how to engage the driver and
passengers to assist in the search. It also lays down
some procedures and aids used to check driver
identification and a number of pointers that should
raise checkpoint personnel suspicions about the mission
of the vehicle and driver.
The final 1/3 of the book deals with the
characteristics and features of many different types of
explosives; it shows examples of major explosive types
, then covers different improvised explosive device
components and IEDs that they comprise when assembled.
The final section deals with search mirrors and their
use and the latent fingerprint lifting kit and how it is
used to obtain evidence about the bombers.
